You'll design and develop mechanical systems that balance performance, reliability, and cost, working with components such as enclosures, heatsinks, cable assemblies, and molded parts. Leveraging thermal, acoustic, and vibration simulations, as well as 3D board layouts and hands-on prototype testing, you'll help transform concepts into robust products that meet customer needs and industry standards.RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and develop efficient and cost-effective power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., sheet metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, cable assemblies, etc.) including thermal design and simulation, 3D board layout and prototype testingWork in a team environment with hardware engineers, electrical engineers, firmware engineers, and program managers on product development of extensive scope Utilize effective communication and team skills. Persuade and gain agreement with cross functional teams (hardware) and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels of an organizationParticipate in design reviews to improve mechanical and thermal designExercise engineering judgment to select and develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to secure project successAnalyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.Interface with internal departments to ensure cost and schedule goals are metDiagnose issues across design, field performance, reliability, and manufacturing test yields of existing power supply products using formal investigation methods, and recommend and implement corrective actions.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Location: Wilmington, MAEnvironment: Standard office environment, possible interaction through a production factory environment; uses electronic equipment and can work with high voltageSome domestic and international travel may be requiredOnsite technical support at customer locations QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrates a sense of urgency and unmatched responsiveness to all work requests and customer deadlines.Demonstrates a consistent, dependable work effort and accepts accountability for one’s actionsCompletes assigned tasks within specified time limits.Helps promote a cohesive and cooperative work group.Understands safety regulations, takes proper care of equipment, and acts in a safe manner.Effective communication skills, ability to present ideas in a clear and persuasive manner, both orally and in writingCapability to respond quickly, decisively, and professionally to changing requirementsExcellent judgment and initiative, including the ability to effectively balance multiple prioritiesGood analytical and problem-solving toolsGood interpersonal skills. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $120,000 to $150,000 per year.
