Senior Attorney for Legal Research

State of Indiana

The Senior Attorney for Legal Research supports the Indiana Department of Child Services' Central Office by researching complex legal issues, drafting guidance documents and quick-reference materials for frontline staff, and advising on matters related to child welfare law, federal requirements, and state regulations. The role involves collaborating with the Deputy General Counsel, maintaining awareness of evolving case law, and providing legal training to attorneys. This position is located in Indianapolis at the Indiana Government Center.
Key qualifications:

Doctorate of Jurisprudence with 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney
Indiana Bar Admission license in good standing
Strong legal research, writing, and litigation skills
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant statutes, case law, and rules
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, Canva, and case management systems
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
