Role Overview The SAP TM Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides high‑level functional leadership in the design, configuration, and optimization of SAP Transportation Management solutions. This role is responsible for transforming complex logistics requirements into scalable system architectures. The SME serves as the primary authority on transportation processes, ensuring that global supply chain operations are supported by high‑performance SAP configurations and seamless cross‑functional integration. Core Responsibilities Solution Design & Configuration: Serve as the lead Subject Matter Expert for the SAP TM module, providing architectural guidance and solution design. Execute hands‑on system configuration to support end‑to‑end transportation and logistics workflows. Author comprehensive Functional Specifications that translate business needs into technical requirements for development teams. Process Optimization & Analytics: Analyze existing transportation and logistics processes to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency gains. Ensure all solution designs align with SAP Best Practices and specific industry standards (e.g., A&D compliance). Troubleshoot and resolve complex functional issues, serving as the final escalation point for system‑related logistics challenges. Validation & Quality Assurance: Lead rigorous testing cycles, including unit testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (LE, MM, SD) to ensure a cohesive end‑to‑end solution delivery. Document business requirements and maintain high‑standard technical repositories to support long‑term system stability. Technical Requirements SAP TM Expertise: 6–9 years of deep functional experience in SAP Transportation Management. Systems Lifecycle: Proven track record in functional design, specification authoring, and complex system configuration. Industry Context: Experience in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) sector is highly preferred. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to function as a Lead Consultant or SME in large‑scale SAP environments. Logistics Domain: Strong foundational understanding of global transportation, freight settlement, and logistics execution. Preferred Qualifications Advanced experience with SAP S/4HANA TM (Embedded or Standalone). Familiarity with integrated logistics modules such as EWM (Extended Warehouse Management). Proven ability to operate independently in a remote, high‑accountability environment. Performance Indicators (90‑Day Success) Successful audit and refinement of current SAP TM configuration and functional documentation. Stabilization of transportation workflows through optimized process design and resolved system bottlenecks.
