Instructional Designer

Position Summary At Ogden-Weber Technical College (OTECH), we believe that Community, Learning, Integrity, and Innovation are at the heart of everything we do. As our Instructional Designer, you will play a vital role in creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences by administering, managing, and providing technical support for the College's primary Learning Management System (LMS) and other college-wide educational technologies. Working collaboratively with faculty and staff, you will consult on, develop, and implement educational technologies and instructional interventions that enhance course quality, improve student outcomes, and foster meaningful learner and instructor engagement. With a commitment to accessibility, continuous learning, and student success, you will also participate in assessment and evaluation efforts that measure and strengthen course and program effectiveness. This position is dedicated to advancing teaching and learning excellence across the College and does not include supervisory or personnel management responsibilities. This position in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) reports to the CTL Coordinator. ## Essential Functions 1. Administer the current institutional Learning Management System (LMS). 2. Manage college-funded educational technology and audio visual resources for the Center for Teaching and Learning. 3. Consult and assist faculty in designing competency-based accessible curriculum for multiple delivery methods (traditional, hybrid, and distance). 4. Serve as a technical support contact to faculty for troubleshooting technical course design, delivery issues and educational technology. 5. Maintain knowledge of current accreditation standards. 6. Assist faculty in developing multi media resources such as audio, video, photo, and web resources for multiple course delivery methods. 7. Assess and remediate program courses in the primary LMS to ensure compliance with accessibility, copyright, and educational quality standards. This includes evaluating course content for accessibility barriers and implementing necessary fixes to support inclusive learning. 8. Produce job aids, trainings, and/or workshops for faculty to teach educational and technical best practices. 9. Maintain currency on trends and developments in instructional design and technology and update faculty and staff on such trends and developments. 10. Assist in the assessment of future instructional design and technology needs to support the college's strategic planning efforts. 11. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned. ## Requirements Education and Experience Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in instructional design/technology, education, or a related field; master's degree preferred. Demonstrable experience/work history may be substituted for education credentials. - Two (2) years of instructional design/technology experience in developing instructional materials, media and applications, preferably in a post-secondary competency-based educational environment. - Knowledge of learning management systems, FERPA, web accessibility, project management, and copyright in higher education and distance education, and media repositories. - Experience with web and media technologies for education. - Communication and customer service skills and experience supporting faculty in an educational environment preferred. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. - Able to operate in Windows-and Mac-based computing environments. - Spanish speaking proficiency desirable. Physical Requirements: 1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. 2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lit, heated nd ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. ## Additional Information Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CONDITIONAL OFFER: A conditional offer of employment will be made pending satisfactory completion of a background investigation.
