Juvenile Justice Specialist I / II – Office of Juvenile Affairs Key Responsibilities Carry a differentiated case load in juvenile justice, providing services and supervision to youths in custody, on probation, or parole status, or covered by the Interstate Compact on juveniles. Conduct intake interviews with juvenile offenders, families, and victims to develop appropriate treatment plans. Provide individual and group counseling, arrange health screening, recommend and implement placement (including out‑of‑home placement and community reintegration), and visit clients in out‑of‑home placements to ensure appropriate services are provided. Prepare reports for the court, District Attorney’s office, and Parole Board; testify in court as an expert witness; act as liaison with the court. Staff cases with the District Attorney’s office and establish restitution amounts. Initiate, develop, implement, and monitor contracts with private nonprofit and for‑profit entities, coordinating with providers for service delivery. Serve as liaison to facilities, agencies, and schools; participate on community councils and planning boards. Conduct foster care studies and recruit foster parents. Conduct diagnostic and evaluation interviews with residents in facilities and their families; prepare written social assessments of diagnostic factors. Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to recommend treatment methodologies; prepare written clinical treatment plans with residents and families; coordinate efforts of psychological, residential, and educational staff to meet treatment needs. Develop and maintain a specialized training and expertise area in one or more of the following: HIV/AIDS education, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counseling, Abuse Survivors, and Sexual Offenders. Apply for Title XIX and Title IV‑E for custody juveniles. Provide detention screening for law enforcement entities and coordinate detention placement. Serve as advocate, presenter, or administrative hearing officer in due process District Review Hearings that may impose sanctions against a juvenile. Other Duties Demonstrate knowledge of and support mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior. Multi‑task and adapt to demanding and changing timelines. Maintain a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy. Work effectively in a team environment, building strong relationships with all levels of staff and collaborating, communicating, respecting, and assisting peers. Compensation Annual salary: Level I – $40,500; Level II – $46,500. Minimum Qualifications LevelI: Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science, or bachelor’s degree plus one year of professional experience in juvenile justice, social work, community‑based prevention and diversionary youth services, guidance and counseling, correctional case management, or probation and parole. Education cannot be substituted with experience. LevelII: Master’s degree in a behavioral science, or jurisdoctora‑tee, or master’s degree plus one year of professional experience in the same fields, or bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science plus one year of professional experience, or bachelor’s degree plus two years of professional experience in the same fields. Education cannot be substituted with experience below the bachelor’s level. Special Requirements Willingness and ability to perform all job‑related travel normally associated with the position. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment. Willingness to be on‑call twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week. Position is safety‑sensitive per 63O.S.§427.8; must pass background check, fingerprints, and drug screening. 12‑month trial period required.
