Director Of Project ManagementSun Tribe EPC ("Sun Tribe") is Virginia's premier utility-scale solar design and build firm, specializing in small to medium size utility scale ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. The Director of Project Management is responsible for supporting the leadership and development of the Project Management team while helping ensure successful execution of Sun Tribe EPC projects. This role provides leadership, coaching, mentorship, and oversight to Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, helping teams navigate project challenges, manage risk, maintain customer relationships, and deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements. The Director of Project Management maintains visibility across the project portfolio, supports resource planning and project staffing decisions, and serves as a senior escalation resource for complex projects, customers, contractual, and execution-related issues. This role works closely with Executive Leadership, Preconstruction, Construction Management, Engineering, Safety and Environmental Compliance, Finance, and key customer stakeholders to support successful project outcomes and continuous improvement across the project lifecycle. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Project Management Office and provides leadership support and assistance to the Project Management organization, including Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Assistant Project Managers. In addition to providing leadership support to the Project Management team, this role may directly support execution of larger, more complex, or strategically important projects within the portfolio.Principal ResponsibilitiesSupport the leadership, development, and mentoring of the Project Management team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growthEstablish and maintain standardized project management processes, tools, workflows, and performance expectations to support consistent project delivery across the organizationProvide oversight of project execution across the EPC portfolio, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, schedule, budget, and contractual objectivesMonitor project performance, identify portfolio-level risks, and support project teams in resolving complex issues, escalations, and execution challengesSupport project staffing and resource allocation decisions across the project portfolio to align business priorities, workloads, and project needsMonitor and report on project and organizational performance metrics while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the Project Management organizationPartner with Executive Leadership and cross-functional teams to drive organizational alignment, operational excellence, and continuous improvementBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, partners, and key stakeholders while supporting customer engagement and issue resolution effortsProvide oversight of project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, Estimate at Completion (EAC) reporting, and portfolio risk managementSupport negotiation, administration, and interpretation of EPC contracts, major project agreements, and commercial termsPromote consistent project delivery standards, accountability, and customer-focused execution across the Project Management organizationDirectly support execution of larger, more complex, or high-priority projects while serving as a senior leader and escalation resource across the project portfolioBasic Qualifications RequiredEducation required: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related technical field preferredMinimum ten (10) years of project management experience in EPC, construction, energy, infrastructure, or related industries requiredMinimum five (5) years of leadership, supervisory, team development, or project leadership experience requiredDemonstrated experience managing complex utility-scale solar, EPC, energy, infrastructure, or related construction projects requiredDemonstrated experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects, project teams, or project portfolios requiredDemonstrated experience managing project financial performance, forecasting, budgeting, contract administration, and commercial risk requiredDemonstrated ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and communicate effectively with executive leadership, customers, and key stakeholdersCurrent, valid driver's license and eligibility for corporate vehicle insurance coverageSkills & Experience PreferredProject Management Professional (PMP) certification preferredProficiency in Procore, MS Project, and related construction management softwareExperience leading, mentoring, and developing Project Managers and Assistant Project ManagersStrong leadership, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholder groupsExperience leading project delivery teams across multiple concurrent projects and complex stakeholder environmentsStrong understanding of EPC contract administration, commercial risk management, forecasting, project controls, and customer relationship managementDemonstrated ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day project execution needsSelf-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement, both individually and across the organizationAlignment with Sun Tribe's core values: Community, Safety, Perpetual Improvement, Nature, Joy, and RespectCommitment to a culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality project deliveryWorking Conditions and Physical RequirementsSome evening and/or weekend work may be requiredWillingness to travel to project sites throughout Virginia and neighboring states as needed, generally no less than once per monthMust be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretchingExposure to characteristic construction site hazardsWearing of standard personal protective equipment while on project sitesCompensation and Benefits Compensation for this position will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
