Job duties include using a hoist to stage containers/baskets for the process, lifting, transferring, and lowering containers/baskets in the cooker using the hoist, controlling sealing the chamber to initiate the cooking process for canned foods as per specifications, monitoring dials, thermometers, and valves to control temperature, pressure, and cooking time, releasing steam and allowing cooling water into the chamber to prevent overcooking at the end of the cooking cycle, assisting in opening the retort and moving canned food to the cooling trough using the hoist, recording pertinent information such as retort number, can size, grade description, cooking time, and pressure on canning reports, following quality and operating procedures, and performing additional tasks as required.

Requirements include manufacturing experience preferred, ability to stand for extended periods, ability to multitask, flexibility with job responsibilities, willingness to work overtime weekly, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
