Neuroscientist, Research

The Neuroscientist is a senior-level and highly experienced postdoctoral research scientist responsible for designing, executing, and overseeing advanced neuroscience studies. This role drives scientific innovation, contributes to strategic research direction, and translates findings into meaningful clinical outcomes, particularly for Nemours’ pediatric patient population. Will strengthen research and translational work in all neurological disorders including epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, neuroimmunology, spasticity and cerebral palsy, neuro-oncology, neuromuscular disorders, fetal neurology, and I collaboration in complex neurosurgery. The Neuroscientist provides technical leadership, mentors junior team members, and collaborates cross-functionally to advance the organization’s neuroscience initiatives. This role will seek funding opportunities to apply for external grants, collaborate with investigators within the division to write research proposals and protocol design. It is expected for this role to implement and establish the Neurology research program that will be supported from various funding sources. The neuroscientist will execute essential tasks and work collaboratively with partners to gain institutional reputation and benchmarking with the U.S. News and World Report.Essential Functions:Scientific Leadership & ResearchLead complex neuroscience research programs from concept to execution, analysis, and publicationDevelop and implement long-term research strategies aligned with organizational research goalsDesign advanced experiments to study brain function, neural systems, and neurological disordersDrive innovation by identifying and applying emerging trends, technologies, and methodologiesEnsure scientific rigor, reproducibility, and integrity across all research activitiesProject & Program ManagementOversee multiple research projects, managing timelines, budgets, and resource allocationEstablish project priorities and ensure alignment with broader business or academic objectivesMonitor progress, mitigate risks, and report outcomes to senior leadershipCoordinate cross-functional collaboration across departments and external partnersEstablish the neurology research program that includes program planning, strategic development, infrastructure design, and oversight of clinical, translational, and basic science research initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and alignment with institutional and pediatric care priorities.Lead the development of high-quality manuscripts for publication in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals to advance pediatric neurological care and outcomes.Data Analysis & InterpretationLead/collaborate with Biomedical Research Informatics Center (BRIC) analysis of complex datasets using computational, statistical, and modeling approachesApply advanced tools such as neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG) and bioinformatics platformsInterpret findings and translate them into actionable insights for further research and developmentTeam Leadership & MentorshipMentor and supervise junior scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and studentsProvide guidance on experimental design, methodology, and career developmentFoster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance team environmentFunding & External EngagementLead grant writing and secure funding through public, private, and industry sourcesBuild and maintain partnerships with academic institutions, clinical researchers, and industry collaborators/pharmaceutical companies to promote clinical trialsRepresent the organization at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and professional forumsReview funding opportunity announcements that align with the organizational research goals and current funding trendsTranslational & Strategic ImpactTranslate research findings into clinical applications, therapeutic strategies, or product developmentSupport regulatory submissions and clinical research initiatives where applicableProvide subject-matter expertise to influence organizational strategy and decision-makingCompliance & GovernanceEnsure adherence to ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocolsOversee compliance related to human and animal research and partner/collaborate with stakeholders to ensure protocols are compliant.Maintain accurate documentation and reporting standardsRequirements: PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology or related field. More than 5 years of relevant research experience including postdoctoral work. Expertise in neuroscience and neurobiology, neurophysiology, or related disciplines is preferred.Demonstrated track record of scientific publications and research impact. Previous experience in neuroscience research preferred.
