Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor/ Peer Support Specialist

Job Description

This position requires a willingness to learn, a genuine desire to help others and a natural understanding of the effects of addiction on an individual. CADCs work directly with clients to provide counseling and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Responsibilities:

Help individuals and families with an addiction to alcohol, drugs, or another substance.
Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling to patients.
Refer patients to appropriate community organizations and outside programs.
Explain addiction and its effects on the family.
Identify issues and create goals and treatment plans.
Counsel patients on social issues including housing, employment, education, family issues, and basic living skills.
Counsel individuals or families affected by substance abuse.
