Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Anesthetist)

About the Position This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This is an open continuous announcement. Basic Requirements Degree: A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in the specialty of the position. Education must be accredited by the appropriate bodies. Attach a copy of transcripts. Degree from a foreign nursing school: Graduates must have completed the CGFNS Certification Program, including credentials evaluation, CGFNS Qualifying Exam, and evidence of passing an approved English Language Proficiency exam. A copy of the CGFNS Certificate is required. Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, D.C., PR, or U.S. territory; must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of the position from a State, D.C., PR, or U.S. territory. Exemption You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the following requirements and provide appropriate documentation to validate your status: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed. Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, D.C., PR, or U.S. territory. Additional Qualification Requirements Professional Nursing Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the next lower grade GS‑11. Experience includes administering anesthetics to patients by inhalation, regional, intravenous, local, or topical means; monitoring patients receiving anesthesia care; and obtaining patients’ medical history.
