SPORTS INSTRUCTOR

Base pay range $15.49/hr - $16.00/hr Join our team at the Madison Area YMCA, where we use the power of sports to build confidence, character, and community. As a Sports Instructor, you’ll help young athletes learn new skills, make friends, and discover the joy of healthy competition— all in a fun, supportive environment. Hours Monday–Friday: 3:45 PM–6:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM Sunday: 12:15 PM–2:15 PM Sunday: 12:00 PM–5:00 PM Wednesday & Friday: 5:00 AM–9:00 AM What You’ll Do Lead youth sports classes that are safe, fun, and inclusive. Teach fundamental skills and encourage teamwork. Create an environment where kids can grow in confidence and ability. Maintain equipment and ensure safety at all times. Support the Sports Department’s programs and goals. What You Bring Energetic, positive, and dependable individuals who enjoy working with kids and sports. Ability to engage participants and model good sportsmanship. Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues. Prior coaching or playing experience preferred but not required. Adhere to procedures related to managing high‑risk activities and supervising youth. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
