Title: Specimen Technician

Contract Duration: 3+ months.

Hrs/Wk: 40.00

Location: 2501 South State Highway 121, Lewisville TX 75067

Pay Rate: $17.80/ Hr on W2.

Job Description:

The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires a data entry background. Functions performed may include but are not limited to A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation and aliquoting. All functions must be performed with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner. Job is complex and requires that employee have good organization skills and is able to learn and understand specimen types related to test(s) ordered by client. The SPT I must have to the ability learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis.

Education:

HS diploma or equivalent. Required Knowledge: Basic understanding of computers with a preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing. Work Experience: No experience required but previous laboratory experience preferred. Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory. Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus but not required. Previous experience in a production environment preferred.

Shift/Time Zone: Sun-Thurs 11pm-7:30am
