Assistant Produce Manager

Responsibilities Assist the Produce Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit. Handle ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Produce team. Coordinate merchandising and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork. Maintain freshness standards, following proper receiving, processing, packaging, pricing, signage, displaying, and rotating a complete variety of items. Lead a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service and the greatest customer experience. Help hire, teach, train and develop the Produce team. Unload and sort store deliveries, operate, and maintain produce equipment. Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and that all team members follow these procedures. Support a fast paced environment and assist the team accordingly. Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age and have basic knowledge of math, weights and measures. Be dependable and reliable, able to work a flexible schedule including night, weekends, and holidays. Exhibit an outgoing, friendly demeanor, positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers. Possess good communication skills, be able to take direction and participate in a team environment. Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize the work area (tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.). Adhere to all safety, health, weights‑and‑measures regulations including COOL, and obtain a Food Handlers permit. Perform physical tasks: stand, walk, bend, climb throughout the day and lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects up to 50 lbs.; move pallets with a pallet jack up to 20 feet, requiring up to 85 pounds for up to 5 hours.
