Job Title Personal Financial Counselor- Assignment Ready Counselor Location Illinois Grade Grade 24 Primary Responsibilities Provide coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations resulting from Military needs, such as post-deployment events or coverage for absent counselors. Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to service members and families at military installations. Conduct one–on–one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals to external resources. Collaborate with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure program scope and needs are met. Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences. Develop and furnish financial materials to service members and families. Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes and workshops on a variety of military lifecycle topics. Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or electronic modes of communication such as web‑based chat or video teleconference. Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in individual and group supervision sessions. Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities. Perform all other assigned duties. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, or associate degree plus 4 years of experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience. Minimum 3+ years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required. Ability to obtain a Tier 2 investigation. Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. Certification required: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). General Job Information Work Experience – Required: Financial Counseling Education – Required: Bachelor's (Preferred combination of education and experience) License and Certifications – Required: AFC, CFP, ChFC; Preferred: Driver License Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 base salary.
