Licensed Veterinary Technician - Ophthalmology Las Vegas, NV About the job The primary role of the Veterinary Technician is to provide excellent care to the patients of Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center, assist the veterinarian and other medical staff, and maintain the upkeep of the facility and equipment. You will take room appointments, assist in surgery, and handle delicate equipment, including operating two phacoemulsification machines (Phacos). The facility is the only location in Nevada and one of a few worldwide that offers retina reattachment. How you'll make a difference Assisting with ophthalmologic exams Obtaining intraocular pressures Measuring blood pressure using Doppler Documenting history and updates in medical records Assisting in anesthetic and sedated procedures Maintaining accurate treatment sheets Taking radiographs and obtaining and preparing various blood samples for diagnostic testing Providing client education on a wide range of at-home care What you will bring Experience working as a Registered Veterinary Technician Comprehensive understanding and experience with anesthetic monitoring Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology Understanding of normal vs. abnormal physiologic ranges Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to developing long‑term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community Positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun Schedule Four 10‑hour shifts, Monday through Friday with the ability to work occasionally on a Saturday. Salary $25.00/hr - $30.00/hr, depending on experience.
