Requirements

Emergency Room RN Requirements

• 1–2+ years of RN experience , depending on location
• Recent Emergency Room experience
• Active WA RN or Compact RN license
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• PALS required
• TNCC required for applicable assignments
• NIHSS required
• EPIC experience
• Strong emergency nursing, assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork
• Ability to work in a high-volume acute-care environment
• Flexibility with scheduling and patient acuity

Travel experience: Previous travel experience is required for the Tacoma opportunity. Silverdale may consider candidates with 1 year of experience in a larger trauma setting. Seattle prefers candidates who have completed 1–2 previous travel assignments.

Seattle, WA – Emergency Room

2 Night Shift Openings

Schedule: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
Weekend: Every other weekend
Guaranteed: 36 hours/week
Start: October 5, 2026

Trauma Level: Level III
Scrubs: Royal Blue

Department Highlights

• Approximately 17 beds , expandable to 22 with hallway beds when staffing allows
• Approximately 66 patients/day
• Patient ratio approximately 1:4
• Comprehensive Stroke Center
• STEMI receiving center
• Fast-track process through the triage lobby
• Separate triage area
• Travelers may participate in triage if they have prior triage experience
• 4 designated behavioral health/psych rooms
• 24/7 security in the ED
• Emergency physicians and mid-level providers
• ED technicians provide EKGs, blood sugars, monitoring, ADLs, and sitter support
• Phillips monitors
• RNs and monitor technicians monitor telemetry
• X-ray and CT available within the ED
• RNs primarily draw labs; phlebotomy assists with difficult sticks or high-volume periods
• Respiratory Therapy manages ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, ABGs, and other respiratory equipment
• Some RNs perform ABGs and breathing treatments

• Chest pain
• Psychosis
• Behavioral health
• Critical/emergency medical conditions
• Rare pediatric cases

Behavioral health experience is strongly preferred due to the department's significant behavioral-health population.

Seattle Scheduling

12-hour shifts are available with start times that may include 7 AM, 9 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, and 7 PM , depending on department needs.

Travelers generally maintain consistent start times rather than rotating frequently. The scheduler works to accommodate existing schedules, but block scheduling is not guaranteed .

Evening Position

• 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Every other weekend
• 36 hours/week

Department Highlights

• Approximately 56 beds , with hall beds potentially expanding capacity to 60–70
• Approximately 170–200 patients/day
• Typical ratio 1:3 , up to 1:4 for lower-acuity patients
• 6-bed Fast Track
• Separate 5-bed triage area
• Travelers may be assigned triage after completing the required triage assessment
• 18 ED beds designated for inpatient holds
• ED RNs manage their own holds
• 6 private rooms in a locked behavioral-health area
• 24/7 security
• ED physicians and mid-level providers
• ED Techs and CNA support
• Respiratory Therapy for vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and ABGs
• Telemetry and monitor technicians
• Radiology adjacent to the ED
• Nurse/ED Tech specimen collection with laboratory support

Silverdale Scheduling

• November/December holiday coverage required

• Extra shifts may be available but are not required
• No floating outside the department
• Professional scrub colors accepted

• 2 trauma bays
• Approximately 125–140 patients/day
• Typical ratio 3–4:1
• Fast Track
• 5 psych/seclusion rooms
• 24/7 Charge Nurse
• ED technicians and support staff
• 24/7 security
• Patient sitters
• 24/7 Respiratory Therapy
• 24/7 IV Team
• Laboratory support

Tacoma Requirements

• At least one previous travel assignment required
• Current WA or Compact RN license
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Strong ER experience
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity environment

Important eligibility requirement: Candidates may not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN employees with an affiliated CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the previous 12 months .
