Job Highlights Modified Self‑Scheduling in 6‑week periods Benefits start on the 1st of the month following the start date Requires a minimum of two years RN work experience Overview Inpatient Medical Oncology at MBMC is a 32‑bed all‑private unit that cares for a mix of 65% medical, 10% oncological, and 25% palliative care patients. Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, provides a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Role Purpose Under the direction of a manager, plan, direct, and coordinate activities of a unit on a designated shift. Perform direct patient care as needed and serve as a clinical resource for nursing and support staff. Assess, plan, evaluate, and document the nursing process of the assigned unit. Responsibilities Facilitate the identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory setting, critically assessing patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishing consults with the interprofessional team. Lead the development and implementation of complex individual care plans with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team members, patients, families, or caregivers, applying expert holistic clinical knowledge to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs and barriers. Actively utilize and champion scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices through participation in journal clubs, facilitation of practice change based on new knowledge, and dissemination of new knowledge from conferences or continuing education. Analyze gaps in practice standards and provide feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care; lead the evaluation of the patient and family experience and adjust care to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care. Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely; this is a safety‑sensitive position.
