Technical Product Manager, Live Services Automation

Overview:

Paramount+ streams some of the biggest live sports and events in the world, and our Live Services Product (LSP) oversees the backend platform that makes it possible. LSP provides operators with one experience through our Live Events CMS. The live services automations team supports this. They create specialized services to manage provider integrations. They also oversee orchestration, automation, and distribution. Each of these services is separate.

We're hiring a Technical Product Manager to expand the Live Services Automation area within LSP. This includes systems that automatically process incoming live signal inputs. You will set up and manage channel infrastructure. You will also make sure that each live show element is checked and ready before it goes on air. Finally, you will consistently distribute live content to our target destinations for the Paramount+ experience.

This is a deeply technical, backend-first role. The Live Events CMS owns the operator-facing surface, and you own the domain logic underneath it that extends its functionality through automation with 1st party/3rd part integrations. You'll partner closely with the CMS product owner to make sure the workflows you build surface cleanly through the CMS, and you'll report to the Live Services lead on platform strategy and vision.

Experience with live streaming, broadcast, or real-time systems is strongly preferred. We want someone who understands the ecosystem and its challenges. They should know what works and what might fail during a live event. This knowledge will help them build systems that work well and can recover automatically. 

Responsibilities:

Own Backend Platform Strategy

• Shape and ship the roadmap for the Live Services Platform. Focus on automation, workflows, and links between systems.

• Build services that scale with every live event. Cover the full path from scheduling to playback and monitoring.

Drive Automation & Orchestration

• Design automation that removes manual steps from live event setup.

• Build "self-healing" workflows that boost reliability and cut extra   work.

Lead Integrations Across Systems

• Own the links between Summit and other systems. This covers scheduling, channels, listings, signal acquisition, and monitoring.

• Keep data flowing smoothly across internal platforms and third-party services.

Translate Operations into Systems

• Partner with Live Operations and Engineering. Turn real-time needs into backend  solutions that scale.

• Spot bottlenecks and design systems that run better at scale.

Define Technical Solutions

• Write clear product docs with senior engineering and product leads. This covers API contracts, workflows, sequence diagrams, and system designs.

• Give engineering teams clear direction on architecture, dependencies, and      integration patterns.

Agile Product Ownership

• Act as Product Owner for a devoted engineering team.

• Manage the backlog, set priorities, and ship deeply technical platform features.

Cross-Functional Management

• Align stakeholders across product, engineering, and operations on backend      platform strategy and delivery.

• Support big live event launches with systems that never miss a beat!

Basic Qualifications:

• 2-4 years in Technical Product Management or a closely related engineering role, with hands-on depth in backend systems, APIs, and/or platform products.

• A track record of shipping automation, orchestration, or distributed integrations.

• You should have a solid knowledge of event-driven architecture. You should also know about workflow orchestration and contracts between services.

• Comfort living in APIs, system links, and data flows; UI experience is not needed.

• Well-developed technical writing: API specs, sequence diagrams, system workflows.

• Experience owning a backlog and leading technical delivery on an Agile team.

Additional Qualifications:

• Live streaming, live sports, or broadcast operations experience — you understand the stakes of a live event and how automation reduces them.

• Experience integrating third-party data providers (stats, scheduling, listings, or similar feeds) into a platform via versioned contracts.

• Knowledge of reliability patterns: retries, reconciliation and observability at scale.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $98,400.00 - 115,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
