You will work across discovery, solution design, hands-on development, deployment, and adoption while leading and developing a small pod of engineers. This role is ideal for a pragmatic technical leader who can translate ambiguous needs into production-ready applications, integrations, APIs, and data solutions; measure business impact; and create reusable engineering patterns for the broader Order Management and enterprise application landscape.Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Because hybrid arrangements can vary by team and business needs, your talent acquisition partner will share the specific expectations for this role.While this is the current structure and we currently have no plans to change, we reserve the right to make changes to the hybrid schedule as needed at the Company’s discretion.What You Will Do:Partner directly with business leaders, domain experts, product teams, and end users to identify high-value problems and define measurable outcomesLead rapid discovery and technical design, translating ambiguous operational needs into clear solution approaches, prototypes, and delivery plansBuild and deploy production-grade applications, integrations, APIs, and data workflows that meet enterprise architecture and security standards, using AI capabilities when they provide clear business value.Evaluate and implement automation, analytics, generative AI, and agentic capabilities where appropriate to reduce manual effort, improve decision-making, and streamline exception handling across the order-to-cash process.Own solutions end to end, from hands-on development and testing through release, observability, adoption, and continuous improvementEmbed with delivery and operational teams to understand real workflows, validate solutions in context, and shorten feedback cyclesMake sound build, buy, configure, and integrate decisions while balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, risk, and user valueCollaborate across architecture, cybersecurity, data, cloud/platform, product, and support teams to remove delivery barriers and operationalize solutionsEstablish reusable engineering patterns, reference implementations, integration approaches, and practical standards that accelerate future deployments, including AI-related patterns when applicable.Define and drive the software engineering strategy for the Order Management organization across its business capabilities, applications, integrations, data platforms, and enabling technologiesEstablish Order Management technology roadmaps, architecture direction, engineering standards, and reusable practices that align delivery across teams and support broader enterprise objectivesServe as the principal technical authority for Order Management application architecture and engineering practices, partnering with senior IT and business leaders to shape investment priorities and strategic initiativesAnticipate industry and technology trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and translate relevant opportunities into scalable Order Management capabilities that improve customer experience, operational performance, and competitive advantage.Provides enterprise-level technical leadership through influence, driving alignment across engineering teams and partnering with senior technical leaders to establish engineering standards, architecture direction, and technology best practices. Communicate technical tradeoffs, progress, risks, and business impact clearly to both technical and executive stakeholdersServe as a player-coach: remain hands-on in design and delivery while leading a small pod of engineers, setting technical direction, reviewing designs and code, and raising the quality of engineering and AI practices across the teamUse AI-assisted engineering tools (coding assistants, agentic development workflows) in daily delivery and coach the team to do the same responsiblyWhat You Need to Succeed:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience12 + years of significant experience designing, building, and operating production-grade full-stack software, enterprise applications, integrations, or data-intensive solutionsStrong hands-on development skills in at least one modern programming language such as Python, C#, Java, or TypeScript, with experience using Git-based development practicesExperience designing and integrating REST APIs, event-driven services, databases, and cloud-based application componentsDemonstrated ability to work directly with business users, clarify ambiguous needs, and translate workflows into effective technical solutionsExperience leading technical delivery across the full software lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and supportWorking knowledge of how to evaluate and govern AI systems, including evaluation frameworks, guardrails, human-in-the-loop design, data privacy, and responsible-AI practicesStrong troubleshooting and systems-thinking skills, with the judgment to balance rapid delivery with security, reliability, and maintainabilityEffective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and AI decisions, tradeoffs, and risks to nontechnical and executive stakeholdersPlayer-coach leadership style, with experience mentoring and technically leading a small team while remaining hands-on, and influencing teams without relying on formal authorityAbility to manage multiple priorities, operate with autonomy, and travel occasionally to work alongside users and delivery teams when needed up to 15%Preferred (Nice to have):Experience with the Microsoft stack, including Azure (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Functions, Logic Apps), Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, and Microsoft FabricExperience with modern front-end frameworks, containerization, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability tools.Demonstrated experience delivering generative AI or LLM-based solutions into production, such as retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, or intelligent automation, including orchestration, prompt design, and integration with enterprise systemsExperience with agent frameworks and orchestration, LLM observability and evaluation tooling, and building AI accelerators reused across multiple teamsKnowledge of Order Management, quoting, configuration, pricing, fulfillment, EDI, ERP, CRM, or other complex enterprise workflowsExperience in consulting, solutions engineering, customer engineering, technical product delivery, or another embedded engineering roleExperience establishing reusable platforms, accelerators, or engineering patterns across multiple teams or business capabilitiesWhy Work for Us?Allegion is a Great Place to Grow your Career if:You're seeking a rewarding opportunity that allows you to truly help others.
