Shipping And Receiving SpecialistPosition Summary:The Shipping And Receiving Specialist will assist with the receiving, handling, processing, and shipping of materials/product. This role will also ensure the integrity, control, and accuracy of inventory control and delivery of materials/products to the proper department.Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:Receiving:Unload, receive, and sign for incoming packagesReconcile number of packages received/delivered before the courier leavesInspect and record packages for damage or defectsQuarantine any mis-delivered package and notify Inventory Control Associate for investigation for redirection of shipmentIn conjunction with the Receiving Specialist, reconcile purchased materials received compared to purchase ordersThe Receiving Specialist will follow up with the supplier and requestor, as appropriateSubmit to QA and complete RM label process for received itemsEnsure all packing slips (original or manual) are delivered to financeDeliver RM labeled items to recipient/department and maintain a log with the signature of the acceptorReturn RM label packet to Quality Assurance GroupPerform routine dock clearanceContribute to continuous process improvement initiativesSupport shipping specialist role, as necessaryOther duties as assignedShipping:Perform quality control checks before shipment is performedPrepare shipments in accordance with IATA shipping regulationsPrepares air waybills against paperwork of package to be shipped to ensure quantities, destination, and shipping mode are correctAssist with preparation of commercial invoices and customs documentation for exportGeneration of air waybills and shipping documents; domestic and international according to requestors preferred courier (e.g. FedEx, QuickSTAT, World Courier, etc.) shipmentsSchedule pick-up with non-standard couriers, as necessaryShip all outbound packages and inform sender of any delayHelp department lead with maintaining shipping suppliesUse courier systems to get transit information on shipments from origin through to deliveryAssist department lead with all shipping complaint investigations, as necessaryContribute to continuous process improvement initiativesOther:Contribute to portions of the laboratory project work scopes as neededEffectively communicate with internal office staff including project managers and data management teamReceive laboratory suppliesMaintain an organized and safe workplace/workspace environmentOther duties as assignedQualifications:Minimum Required:High School Diploma or GED1 year relevant working experienceOther Required:Familiar with warehouse receiving proceduresGood attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and must work well in a group environmentAbility to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision and guidanceDemonstrate the ability to multi-task on daily basis, prioritize project goals, pay strict attention to detailMust be a flexible, agile team player who can change activities and directions quickly and respond to a variety of assignments and changing business needsAbility to lift up to 60lbs and is able to squat, bend, stoop, push, kneel and reachAbility to carry between 25-150 lbs.; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterityAbility to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periodsAbility to work in cold, hot and wet environmentsMust possess a valid driver's license allowing you to drive in the state(s) you drive inMust be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English languagePreferred:Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Science, Business or related fieldFamiliar with LIMS type systemGood organizational and people skills.
