Lead Vascular Sonographer

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVT) through the American Registry for DiagnosticMedicalSonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within30 daysof hire date.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Eight (8) years of vascular sonography experience.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Performs advanced non-invasive imaging procedures for Vascular Laboratories.
2. Performs proper billing of procedures and prioritize patient scheduling.
3. Coordinates and prioritizes patient scheduling in order to insure procedure completion in a timely fashion.
4. Prior to testing, obtains information for specific procedures to be performed, answer pertinent questions to patients concerning procedures and are courteous to patients and their families 100% of the time.
5. Performs all non-invasive imaging procedures within established guidelines and timeframes.
6. Notifies appropriate medical staff if there are significant abnormal findings.
7. Documents procedure performed within patient chart to inform the physician that the test has been completed.
8. Calculates and measures vascular structures from procedure data in order to aid the physician in interpreting results and achieving a diagnosis.
9. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the equipment, procedure rooms and work areas of the Vascular Laboratories.
10. Completes accurate documentation through EPIC to ensure proper billing.
11. Maintains the confidentiality of the patient and unit information, without infraction, as monitored by supervision.
12. Supports the development of the Vascular Sonographer I and II by providing ongoing feedback regarding their performance.
13. Participates in education and in-service opportunities in order to maintain and enhance knowledge.
14. Acts as a preceptor by on-boarding new sonographers with department orientation, in-service and education.
15. Provides preliminary report on study performed in a timely manner. Reviews preliminary report with physician.
16. Follows and implement echo protocols and policies.
17. Provides clinical supervision and instruction within the policies of the vascular lab program and its respective accrediting bodies. Performs as a clinical instructor meeting the quality of standards of the sonography education program as identified through professional literature, department, institutional and sonography education programs protocol, policy and procedure. Evaluates and documents student clinical performance fairly, consistently and in a timely manner according to guidelines of the Educational programs
18. Responsible for all requirements and documentation to maintain good standing with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission IAC.
19. Assist the supervisor in creating and modifying vascular protocols to current Standards of practices set forth by the IAC and Society of Vascular Ultrasound SVU
20. Ensures all vascular sonographers are trained in all modalities provided by the department.
21. Displays imaging techniques, patient care, and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Heart and Vascular imaging Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulation, and The Joint Commission guidelines.
1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
3. Hearing (aid permitted) - must be able to function without use of lip reading.
4. Visual acuity (corrected) - keen for both distant and near objects/individuals (i.e. ability to read small print).
