Mechanical Design Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a Contract with a client in Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate must with experience supporting product development, design improvements, testing, and project coordination for consumer products.


Rate Range: $45/hour to $50/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Mechanical Design Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop design improvements for consumer appliances that enhance product quality, performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
• Create and modify 3D models, prototypes, and engineering designs using CAD tools to validate concepts and support product development activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage engineering projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, progress tracking, and communication with stakeholders.
• Conduct product testing, reliability evaluations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with technical specifications and regulatory standards.
• Partner with Quality teams to investigate consumer issues, identify failure modes, and implement engineering solutions to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Six Sigma methodologies, and Lean principles to optimize sheet metal, injection-molded, and electromechanical product designs.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• 2-5 years of engineering experience in product design, quality engineering, or new product development.
• Experience with project management, product development, root cause analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for sheet metal and injection-molded components.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD tools (preferably Creo Parametric), with the ability to communicate design revisions and support prototype development and testing.

Pay Details: $45.00 to $50.00 per hour
