Emergency Medical Technician

Job Overview Administer Basic Life Support and emergency medical techniques; serve as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) on a Basic Life Support/Mobile Intensive Care Unit (BLS/MICU); continue education related to medical advancements; and maintain ambulance vehicles and equipment. Minimum Requirements Prefer one or more years of Emergency Medical experience as an EMT and a High School Diploma or GED. Licenses & Certifications Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Certificate. Valid Class C Texas Driver's License. American Heart Association - Basic Life Support (BLS) HealthCare Provider (HCP) CPR Certificate, obtainable within six months. Completion of NIMS courses 100, 200, 700, and 800. Must qualify and be recertified prior to the end of each certification period. Continuing Education Maintain continuing education hours within DSHS guidelines. Exercise professional initiative to stay current with new drugs and treatment procedure guidelines. Maintain ability to carry out standing orders within Medical Director's discretion.
