Senior Operations Coordinator

Job Description Responsible for the deployment of law enforcement resources in support of special events and police details, including events initiated and sponsored by the university. The coordinator will review and evaluate special event deployment plans and requests dealing with traffic conditions, crowd control, security needs and the use of specialized equipment. The coordinator will liaison with various segments of the police department, as well as with other university departments and outside agencies, necessary to appropriately staff special events and police details. The coordinator will be responsible for the handling of billing and managing accounts as it relates to special event coordination. The Special Events and Supply Coordinator will also handle Quartermaster duties for the police department. The coordinator will be responsible for the general oversight of the police department’s equipment and supply function, issuing equipment and supplies to department personnel, identifying and evaluating police‑specific equipment, making equipment and supply purchases, and maintaining inventory records. Responsibilities Good judgment and strong analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent numeracy skills with attention to detail. Knowledge of accounting practices and inventory controls. Law enforcement knowledge in special event security, traffic control, and resource deployment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related computer programs. Ability to learn and operate the computer program that consolidates records, streamlines operations, and improves personnel management. Ability to maintain a residential telephone number listed with the department. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time. Excellent organizational, project management, and time‑management skills with the ability to cope with limited resources, seize opportunities, and think creatively. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Five years of relevant experience in a law‑enforcement setting. Minimum of two years of special‑event planning or related work experience. Valid and unrestricted (without corrective‑lens requirements) U.S. driver’s license. Must meet Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become an authorized driver. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or related field. Experience working for a secondary employment agency.
