This is an exciting opportunity to mentor students, collaborate with faculty, and gain valuable instructional experience while helping shape the next generation of professionals and innovators. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play an important role in creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment through hands-on assistance, tutoring, classroom facilitation, and academic support. This is a face-to-face, part-time opportunity located on GCU’s Main Campus in Phoenix, Arizona. Why Join GCU? Gain valuable teaching and leadership experience Work alongside experienced faculty mentors Build professional and academic skills in higher education Make a meaningful impact on student success Flexible part-time schedule (up to 10 hours per week) Collaborative and mission-driven university environment Minimum Qualifications Completed Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required Must reside in Arizona and be available to work in person on GCU’s Main Campus Successfully completed coursework in Theology, Ministry, or Divinity, with a grade of B or higher Strong communication and classroom support skills Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or instructional support experience preferred Key Responsibilities Partner with faculty to support classroom instruction and student engagement Assist with lesson preparation, grading, and classroom facilitation Hold weekly office hours to provide tutoring and academic support Reinforce course concepts through one-on-one and group assistance Support classroom management and proctor examinations Observe and report student progress to faculty Facilitate review sessions and supplemental instruction opportunities Help create a collaborative and encouraging learning environment Uphold and support the mission and values of Grand Canyon University Additional Information Part-time, in-person position Maximum of 10 hours per week Schedule may vary based on course assignment and departmental needs Opportunities available across various engineering and technology disciplines Join the Lopes Community At Grand Canyon University, we are committed to helping students find their purpose and achieve their potential.
