Wheel & Brake Repair Technician

Job description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wheel & Brake Repair Technician to join our FAA Part 145 Certificated Repair Station in Tolleson, AZ. In this role, you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, overhaul, and reassembly of aircraft wheels, brakes, and related hydraulic components in accordance with applicable manufacturer maintenance manuals, FAA regulations, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, and reassemble aircraft wheel and brake assemblies in accordance with OEM maintenance manuals and FAA regulations
  • Perform dimensional inspections and evaluate components for serviceability using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, depth gauges)
  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections including fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) and eddy current testing on wheel halves, brake housings, and related components
  • Document all work performed accurately in accordance with FAA Part 145 repair station requirements and company quality management system
  • Identify and properly tag unserviceable parts; complete required serviceable/unserviceable tags per FAA standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-controlled work environment
  • Operate shop equipment including torque wrenches, hydraulic press, blast cabinets, and inspection tools
  • Coordinate with inspection/QC personnel for required inspections and release to service
  • Follow all safety procedures, including handling of hazardous materials (hydraulic fluid, cleaning solvents, lubricants)
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and adhere to ISO/AS9100 quality standards where applicable

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aircraft component repair, wheel & brake overhaul, or related aviation maintenance field
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from OEM component maintenance manuals (CMMs), illustrated parts catalogs (IPCs), and service bulletins
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 145 repair station regulations and documentation requirements
  • Proficiency with precision measurement and hand tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in a shop environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
  • Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • NDT Level II or Level III certification per NAS 410 / SNT-TC-1A in one or more of the following methods:
  • Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI / PT)
  • Eddy Current Testing (ET)
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT)
  • Forklift operator certification
