Job title: Community Reentry/Parole - Sex Offender and Mental Health Treatment Specialist - Juvenile Rehabilitation Specialist (JRS) Location: Region 2 Yakima office or the Richland outstation, WA Closes: Thursday, October 29, 2026 Salary: $67,704 - $80,496 Yearly The Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is accepting applications for a Community Reentry/Parole and Sex Offender and Mental Health Treatment Specialist to join our team to support the collaboration and coordination of the delivery of community reentry planning and services for Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) Youth Who Sexually Offend (YSO) and perform Mental Health Specialist duties. This position uses a comprehensive, therapeutic, trauma informed approach to support tiered reentry designed to maximize least restrictive, community-based step-down to secure confinement. The Opportunity We need your leadership skills in our Juvenile Rehabilitation (JR) regional office and in regional community facilities to provide oversight and coordination of programs for the supervision of youth who sexually offend (YSO) and youth with Mental Health treatment needs. You will train staff in issues related to treatment and management of sex offenders and act as a consultant on case and treatment planning with YSO’s. Some of what you'll do Provide direct treatment services to YSO who have completed YSO treatment with a provider or no longer have access to work with a provider. Act as a consultant on case and treatment planning with YSO. Review case files and complete timely referrals to YSO treatment providers. Arrange for periodic polygraph examinations and assure there is adequate follow up to any high-risk behavior reported. Train staff and serve as a resource in YSO and mental health treatment issues, trends, best practices and legal requirements. Monitor YSO treatment provider and polygraph examiner contracts. Complete co-visits to YSO families with their assigned parole counselor according to guidelines. Consult on the development of contract requirements and act as a liaison to coordinate and monitor services by contracted providers. Possess knowledge of regional providers and connect young people and families to culturally appropriate service. What we’re looking for A Bachelor’s degree AND two years of professional experience in casework, counseling, probation and/or parole, social services, planning, directing and/or facilitating youth groups, or experience in a related field. OR One year as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2 (JRC2) or Juvenile Rehabilitation Community Counselor (JRCC) or Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential Counselor (JRCC). OR Equivalent combination of education/experience totaling 6 years. A Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or in an allied field will substitute for one year of the required years of experience. In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following: Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles. Experience using a trauma informed care approach. Demonstrated competency in relating to clients from urban settings and low socio-economic backgrounds. Knowledge of Evidence Based and Research Based methods and techniques. Ability to prioritize assigned work and respond in a positive manner to situations related to youth on parole and/or their family’s situation. Demonstrated competency in relating to clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups.
