Propulsion Thermal Management 3D CFD Engineer

Job DescriptionThe RoleThis role within the Global Propulsion Engineering division offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative team focused on virtual process development and execution. Propulsion related thermal and fluid simulations are the primary focus. 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models are used to directly impact design and eliminate hardware testing. Simulations are primarily focused on engines, transmissions, electric motors & drive units, with extended scope of the team in battery cells and related processes.What You’ll Do:Development of new and innovative CFD simulations related to electrified propulsion componentsCollaboratively work in small teams focused on the development of complex multiphase flow and/or thermal simulationsApplication of developed and developing capabilities to directly impact design, processes, and for the elimination of hardware testingProvide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis resultsParticipate in product design and development teams and present analysis results to engineering peers and managementProvide technical insight for problem resolution by leveraging analysis resultsBenchmarking and evaluation of new procedures, technology, or software toolsContribute to the development of automation tools using Python or JavaYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor of Science in Engineering2+ years of experience with simulation, design, testing, or release of propulsion related systems2+ years of experience with CFD analysis of propulsion related systemsFamiliarity or practical experience with the principles of vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testingWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with coursework in heat transfer and fluid mechanics preferredExperience with STAR-CCM+ or Simerics-MP+ CFD softwareExperience with CFD optimization toolsExperience with test to model correlationExperience with programming in Python, Java, or equivalent languagesLinux experience in distributed computing environmentsExperience with the latest CFD visualization techniquesKnowledge of Siemens NX CAD modelingLocation: Hybrid.
