Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Plant City, Florida – offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Hourly Pay: $29.50 per hour Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained, up to $700 Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year) Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday Hours: Second Shift Tuesday – Saturday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm; Friday 10:00 am – 6:30 pm; Saturday 3:00 am – 11:30 pm We want the right Maintenance Repair Mechanic to join us at Ryder to work on Heavy Duty Vehicles. Responsibilities Interact with customers, exhibit account‑management skills to facilitate preventative maintenance, repair issue resolution, and discuss new repair estimates. Coordinate work schedule as required. Road‑test vehicles to identify causes of complaints, ensure quality of repair work, and deliver customer satisfaction. Preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs responsibilities include but are not limited to: A/C & Heater: operate system, recognize cooling status, perform basic checks (compressor power, condenser, belt tension), identify Freon and oil leaks. Brakes‑Air: identify air brake components, perform inspections, adjust brakes, measure lining thickness, perform brake repairs per BA298 once trained. Brakes‑Hydraulic: road‑test operation, inspect leaks, check park brake, adjust service brakes, perform repairs per BH298 once trained. Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates: identify leaks, operate lift gate, adjust platform, basic malfunction identification. Charging Systems (electrical): inspect batteries, clean connections, check belts, test alternator and bearings, replace/adjust belts. Clutch: lubricate components, assess clutch operation, brake and linkage checks. Cooling Systems: check and adjust coolant levels, inspect leaks, perform hose replacements, use refractometer and pressure tester. Cranking System (electrical): inspect batteries and cables, clean components, replace batteries. Lighting System and Electrical Accessories: repair wiring, replace bulbs, lenses, assemblies, install accessories. Drive Axles: inspect housings for leaks, change oil and filter when required. Driveline: lubricate, inspect for wear or damage. Gas Engines – All Engines: check oil levels, identify unusual noises and leaks. Fuel Systems: replace and prime filters, inspect fuel lines and components. Preventive Maintenance: proper lubrication, tire inspection, brake checks, initial fault code identification, PM298, DPF servicing, etc. Steering and Non‑Driven Axles and Alignment: lubricate fittings, adjust fluid levels, toe, steering components, trailer axle alignment, wheel bearings. Suspension‑Chassis and Cab: identify models, basic operation, repair minor air leaks, detect wear. Tire and Wheel Maintenance: air pressure checks, tread depth, install/release tires, rotate, maintain systems per TW298. Vehicle Coupling System (PM): lubricate fifth wheel plate, operate slider mechanism. Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines. Maintain all service, safety, and environmental records to meet mandated requirements. Accountable for key maintenance measurements established by company policy. Perform other duties as assigned.
