Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher working 1:1 with a middle school student who exhibits significant behavioral needs. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for educators who thrive in dynamic environments and who are comfortable implementing proven strategies to assist students requiring individualized attention. You’ll have the benefit of working alongside a dedicated paraprofessional for enhanced classroom support.
Key Qualifications:
- Active GA Special Education (SPED) teaching license (specific endorsements to be confirmed)
- Experience working with middle school-aged students, preferably those with behavioral challenges
- Strong understanding of de-escalation strategies and behavior intervention plans
- Willingness to work in-person; this position is not available as a virtual assignment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a classroom para as part of a student support team
- Comfortable providing compassionate, consistent support for students with aggressive behaviors
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a 1:1 Special Education Teacher for a student requiring intensive behavioral support in a middle school setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans
- Utilize evidence-based methods to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and other faculty to ensure optimal student outcomes
- Maintain clear communication with parents, guardians, and district partners
Additional Details:
- Full-time schedule at 30 hours per week on-site at one middle school location
- Travel professionals are encouraged to apply
- Panel interviews are conducted remotely, with quick decision-making (typically within 24-48 hours)
