About the Position

Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring Must-Have: BLS, NRP, and Fetal Heart Monitoring is required. Description: Looking for an OB nurse to manage 15-17 births per month. The nurse will perform duties in Labor & Delivery as well as in Mother Baby, Newborn Nursery, and Couplet Care. The nurse will also care for Gynecology surgery patients. Floating to Med/Surg may be required if there are no patients in Labor & Delivery. If floating to Med/Surg, the nurse should assist with vitals, passing medications, and other non-patient-specific tasks if they are not comfortable with taking Med/Surg patients. The nurse will be responsible for all tasks within their scope of practice for laboring patients, triaging, and mother-baby care. The LPN will be available to support the RN on shift; however, they cannot labor or triage patients or perform initial assessments. The LPN may assist the RN with EFM evaluations, patient turning, and documentation. Initial assessments by the baby nurse must be validated by the RN. If additional help is needed, staff can request a Transfer Coordinator for assistance. In emergency situations, the LPN typically accompanies the patient to the OR, allowing the RN to remain on the unit for any incoming triage patients. As a small unit, creativity is essential, but we ensure excellent support and resources when needed.
