Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Senior Mechanical / Pipefitting Project Manager The Senior Mechanical / Pipefitting Project Manager will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination, financial management, and execution of large‑scale mechanical and pipefitting projects in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a highly experienced construction professional with a strong background in mechanical piping systems, project leadership, cost control, and field operation. The Senior Project Manager will oversee projects from pre‑construction through closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This position will also provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and project team members. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage large‑scale mechanical and pipefitting projects from preconstruction through completion. Oversee multiple projects or complex, high‑value projects simultaneously. Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and manpower requirements. Maintain responsibility for overall project financial performance, including cost projections, labor tracking, change management, and profitability. Coordinate with clients, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal field leadership. Oversee mechanical piping scopes, including procurement, fabrication, installation, scheduling, and field coordination. Lead project kickoff meetings, progress meetings, financial reviews, and closeout activities. Review and manage contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation. Identify project risks early and implement proactive solutions to protect schedule, budget, and project performance. Monitor labor productivity, material costs, equipment needs, and overall project performance. Conduct regular site visits to evaluate progress, quality, productivity, safety, and coordination. Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure manpower and resources align with project demands. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders. Mentor and support Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and other project team members. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, safety requirements, and industry standards. Provide leadership with regular updates on project financials, schedules, risks, challenges, and overall performance. Support preconstruction efforts, project pursuits, estimating coordination, and turnover from estimating to operations. Drive accountability and continuous improvement across project teams. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical construction and project management. Extensive experience managing commercial and industrial pipefitting and mechanical piping projects. Proven track record of successfully managing large‑scale and complex mechanical projects from inception through completion. Strong knowledge of mechanical piping systems, installation practices, construction sequencing, fabrication, and industry standards. Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, labor performance, procurement, and change orders. Strong leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop project teams. Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and make sound decisions under pressure. Proficiency with construction and project management software such as Procore, MS Project, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of jobsite safety requirements, quality standards, and construction best practices. PE license or PMP certification is a plus, but not required.
