As a mental health counselor at Central Park Counseling Center, you will work closely with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and support staff, all committed to a collaborative approach to mental health services. Our outpatient office model ensures that clients receive timely interventions and support without the need for hospitalization.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct thorough preliminary interviews with clients, documenting their background and presenting concerns comprehensively, from the initial consultation through to termination of treatment. \n
- Evaluate clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health to deliver precise diagnoses and treatment recommendations. \n
- Develop individualized treatment plans, encompassing goals and methods tailored to individuals, couples, families, and groups. \n
- Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, incorporating proven therapeutic techniques and interventions. \n
- Continuously monitor clients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes. \n
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and medical practitioners, to create comprehensive intervention strategies for complex cases. \n
- Support clients during hospital admissions by maintaining open communication with psychiatrists and attending physicians. \n
- Identify and implement strategies to prevent maladaptive behaviors that could hinder recovery. \n
- Provide guidance to family members and primary caregivers on managing mental health challenges, fostering a supportive environment for recovery. \n
Our client population ranges from children and adolescents to adults and families, addressing a wide array of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will have the opportunity to work with diverse clients, each with unique backgrounds and experiences, providing care that is culturally sensitive and responsive to their individual needs.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. \n
- Active, valid licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois. \n
- Successful completion and passing scores on relevant national examinations, such as the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE). \n
- Genuine passion for mental health counseling and a commitment to ongoing professional development. \n

- Previous experience as a mental health counselor, with evidence of positive outcomes in client treatment. \n
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, ensuring accurate maintenance of client documentation. \n
- Experience related to co-occurring conditions, including physical health issues and addiction disorders, is highly advantageous. \n
- Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices. \n
- Understanding the effects and implications of psychotropic medications prescribed by medical specialists. \n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective client interaction and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. \n
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, active listening, and a commitment to building trust with clients. \n
We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience, as well as a generous sign-on bonus to welcome you to our team.
