Laboratory Supervisor

Our client is currently seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for their Manufacturing Facility located in the greater Bedford Park area of Chicago. The Laboratory Supervisor will supprt the daily manufacturing operations by maintaining the schedule, conducting product testing, performing quality tests and coordinating the QMS, including the ISO 9001 program. The Lab Supervisor will perform quality testing on inbound and outbound products and act as the inventory control coordinator. This is a Monday-Friday position, working 7:00am - 3:30pm. The Supervisor will have 2 direct reports. Previous direct management experience is a must have along with a background in Chemistry or Biology & a Bachelors Degree. Previous experience running and calibrating the following lab tests: ICP, Viscosity, NOACK, Cold Crank, Crackle are preferred,

This job will have the following responsibilities:

• Perform quality testing on inbound and outbound products
• Supervise blending personnel
• Lead project management for blending/bulk distribution
• Quality Management Systems coordinator including ISO 9001 program
• Maintain production schedule and purchase raw materials (bulk production and lab)
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment as well as maintain equipment maintenance intervals
• Act as bulk inventory control coordinator
• Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or Related Field
• 2+ years of Laboratory expereince - preferably within fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Previous experience with production scheduling and lean six sigma - preferred .
• Experience Running / Calibrating Lab Tests | ICP, Viscosity, NOACK, Cold Crank, Crackle preferred
• Strong communication/presentation skills
• Computer Skills - specifically Excel, Power Point, SAP and Quality Management Software
