Director of Development, Kroc School of Peace Studies Full‑time administrative position located in San Diego, United States. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program for the Kroc School and university‑wide priorities, focusing on major gifts (cash or property gifts of $25,000 or more). Collaborate with the school’s deans, faculty, and department heads to identify, plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising priorities. Build and maintain relationships with potential donors, including alumni, parents, faculty, friends, corporations, and foundations. Work with the university’s marketing and communications team to promote the school’s mission and develop fundraising communication strategies. Participate in major school activities such as student recruiting, commencement, distinguished alumni selections, and career development programs. Assist in recruiting and supporting the Board of Advisors, including identifying prospects and preparing meeting materials. Oversee the school’s development budget, develop and manage the annual operating plan, and provide detailed quantitative reports to leadership. Ensure accurate recording of donations in the CRM and financial management platforms, initiating corrections as needed. Plan and execute cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for major gift prospects, including proposals for capital projects, scholarships, and named positions. Coordinate major gift opportunities with alumni, advancement services, foundation relations, and planned giving to secure deferred and estate gifts. Oversee day‑to‑day administration of the School’s Office of Development, including gift processing, thank‑you letters, and staff coordination. Attend professional development seminars and industry conferences to remain current on fundraising best practices. Develop strategies to raise awareness of the Kroc School within the San Diego donor community and participate in community events as representatives of USD. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of five years’ experience in fundraising, including management and administrative skills. Advanced degrees may substitute for experience at a rate of one year of work experience per two years of graduate study. Proven ability to analyze, present data, and develop comprehensive fundraising plans. Demonstrated success in major gift cultivation, solicitation, close, and stewardship. Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Ability to recruit, organize, and manage staff, volunteers, or advisory committees. Integrity and respect for confidential information. Friendly, personable demeanor and strong interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree strongly preferred. Experience in higher education fundraising. Demonstrated experience with industry or government partnerships.
