Commercial Service Tire TechnicianColony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Commercial Service Tire Technician to join our team in Roanoke, VA! Full benefit package offered including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) + company match, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), paid holidays, vacation time, company paid life insurance, and short-term disability.The Commercial Tire Technician is responsible for the safe repair, replacement, and service of commercial tires on customer vehicles at Colony Tire locations, customer sites, and during roadside service calls, including along highways. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments. Additional duties may be assigned by management as business needs require.Essential Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Maintain a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicles operated and meet applicable commercial driver qualification requirements.Inspect tires and wheels before and after service in accordance with established safety and quality procedures.Identify repairable tire conditions and perform approved repairs.Review work orders and communicate job details with supervisors and team members.Accurately document all work performed in compliance with company policies and procedures.Safely unbolt and re-bolt wheels using hand and power tools.Mount and dismount tires on drop-center, semi-drop-center, and multi-piece rims.Properly match and assemble dual tire configurations.Identify correct tire specifications and inflate tires to proper size, ply, and load requirements.Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects from tires.Safely move vehicles in and out of the shop and customer locations.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of machines, tools, and equipment used in tire service, including proper use, maintenance, and repair.Equipment Operation & Control: Ability to operate shop equipment and tools safely and effectively.Active Listening: Ability to understand instructions, ask clarifying questions, and communicate effectively.Operation Monitoring: Ability to observe equipment and identify potential issues or malfunctions.Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently and complete tasks within expected timeframes.Physical Abilities:Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, and reach.Strength to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.Tool Proficiency: Ability to recognize and properly use hand tools, pneumatic tools, machine tools, jacks, hoists, and related equipment.Vehicle & Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles as required.Problem Solving: Ability to analyze situations, make sound decisions, and resolve issues efficiently.Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material: Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems/defects.Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling or materials.Work Styles:Attention to Detail: Demonstrates thoroughness and accuracy in completing work tasks.Dependability: Reliable, responsible, and accountable in fulfilling job duties.Cooperation: Works well with others and maintains a positive, team-oriented attitude.Independence: Capable of performing work with minimal supervision.Integrity: Acts ethically, treats others with respect, and upholds company values.Stress Tolerance: Maintains composure and effectiveness in high-pressure situations.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments, therefore exposure to heat and cold is to be expected. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
