Experience in childcare is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who has a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for working with children.

Position Details

• Position: Assistant Teacher
• Schedule: Full-time, 35+ hours per week
• Minimum Age: 18 years old
• Experience: Preferred, but willing to train
• Benefits: Paid time off and 4 paid holidays per year

Job Summary

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. This role helps with daily classroom activities, encourages children's social and emotional development, and assists with age-appropriate learning experiences. The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, flexible, and passionate about helping children reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines, activities, and lesson plans.
• Provide attentive supervision to ensure children's safety and well-being.
• Help create a warm, welcoming, and positive classroom environment.
• Engage children in age-appropriate learning activities, play, arts and crafts, stories, music, and outdoor play.
• Support children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
• Assist children with daily needs, including meals, handwashing, toileting, and other routines appropriate to their age.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with coworkers, families, and leadership.
• Follow center procedures and applicable childcare health and safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide consistent, quality care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous childcare or early childhood education experience is preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
• A genuine love for children and an interest in early childhood development.
• Patience, dependability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn, accept guidance, and work collaboratively.
• Ability to actively supervise children and participate in classroom activities throughout the workday.
• Willingness to meet applicable childcare licensing, background check, and training requirements.
