Senior AccountantWe are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Pasadena office and play an important role in the accounting and financial management of a portfolio of commercial real estate joint ventures. This position offers a broader range of responsibilities than in a traditional property accounting role, with exposure to joint venture partners, executive management, technical accounting matters, financial reporting, and cross-functional business teams.The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This individual will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting for an assigned portfolio while developing a strong understanding of the underlying real estate operations and providing meaningful financial insights to internal and external stakeholders. For a motivated accounting professional, this role provides broad exposure across joint venture accounting, financial reporting, real estate operations, and technical U.S. GAAP accounting.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Portfolio ManagementManage the day-to-day accounting and financial activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate joint venture propertiesAnalyze monthly property-level income statement and balance sheet trends, investigate fluctuations, and identify key financial driversReconcile general ledger accounts to sub-ledgers and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingPerform monthly bank reconciliationsPartner closely with Asset Services teams to provide accounting and financial analysis, including evaluating property operating results and leasing activity, reviewing operating budgets, and resolving tenant-related inquiriesAssist with the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly joint venture reporting deliverables for executive managementPrepare quarterly and annual debt compliance packagesResearch and analyze technical accounting matters, including consolidation, lease accounting, and project cost accounting, and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to business transactionsParticipate in process improvement initiatives, internal and external audit requests, departmental projects, and other strategic accounting initiativesJoint Venture & Partner RelationsServe as a key accounting liaison between Alexandria and external joint venture partners, building and maintaining productive partnership relationshipsPrepare and present cash flow projections to executive management and joint venture partners and manage capital funding requirements and distributionsPartner with Asset Services to deliver annual property budgets to joint venture partnersRespond to partner inquiries and provide timely, accurate financial information and analysisFinancial ReportingPrepare monthly joint venture partner reporting packages, including financial analytics, fluctuation analyses, operational overviews, and executive summariesPrepare stand-alone audited financial statements and coordinate directly with external auditors to successfully complete annual auditsStay current on new accounting pronouncements and evaluate their potential impact on joint venture financial statements and accounting practicesProvide financial reporting support for the preparation of the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, as well as quarterly supplemental reportingQualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field requiredCPA or progress toward CPA certification preferredAt least years of relevant accounting experience requiredPublic accounting experience highly preferredCommercial real estate accounting experience at a public company preferredStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated ability to research and apply technical accounting guidanceExperience preparing financial statements and managing general ledger accounting activitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to successfully manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, senior management, joint venture partners, auditors, and other external stakeholders.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.Experience with Yardi is desirable.The expected base hourly wage range for this position is $ 52.88 to $64.90 USD hourly, plus an annual discretionary bonus. This hourly wage range is an estimate, and the actual hourly wage may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual's knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company's compensation practices.
