POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) – East Campus Detox/Residential DEPARTMENT: Clinical REPORTS TO: Clinical Leadership / Program Leadership FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt ABOUT MENDING HEARTS Mending Hearts provides a safe, structured environment where women healing from addiction, trauma, homelessness, and co-occurring mental health disorders can find hope, community, and long-term recovery. POSITION SUMMARY The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care and supervision to clients in detox and residential treatment, supporting individuals during the earliest and most vulnerable stages of recovery. This role ensures client safety, promotes engagement in recovery programming, and supports daily operations through trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care. The BHT works closely with clinical, medical, and program staff to monitor client behavior, assist with daily living activities, and maintain accurate documentation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required Actively pursuing LADAC or related licensure preferred Valid Tennessee driver's license with F endorsement (or ability to obtain by start date) CPR certification required within 90 days of hire Strong interpersonal, observational, and documentation skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Client Care and Supervision Monitor clients to ensure safety and adherence to program rules Conduct safety checks, observe client behavior, and respond to crises or escalation Provide supervision during daily routines, meals, hygiene, and structured activities Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed Crisis Intervention and Support Support clients experiencing withdrawal, emotional distress, or behavioral challenges Utilize trauma-informed de-escalation techniques Communicate changes in client status to clinical and nursing staff promptly Intake, Discharge, and Documentation Conduct client intakes and discharges, including drug screenings and belongings searches Document client observations, incidents, and progress in Lightning Step or EHR systems Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation Program Engagement and Safety Encourage participation in recovery programming and skill-building activities Maintain a clean, safe, and trauma-informed environment Follow all safety protocols, HIPAA requirements, and confidentiality standards Participate in shift handoffs, team meetings, and trainings Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations WORK SCHEDULE Non-exempt position. Scheduling may include day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. Full-time, part-time, and PRN positions available.
