Attend training to obtain CDL licensure if not already a licensed CDL holder. Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing. Perform snow and ice operations. Benefits Excellent work/life balance. Qualifications Highway Maintenance Worker 1 Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary. Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction. 3 months training or experience in operation of basic equipment. Highway Technician 1 Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction, decimals, percentages & fractions; ability to read, write & speak common English vocabulary. 3 months training or experience in operation of basic equipment. Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement without airbrake restriction. This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards. All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one‑year probationary period. All 3rd‑shift employees receive a 0.60 cent shift differential. Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract. Background & Drug Testing The final candidate will be required to undergo a criminal background check. A criminal history assessment will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration. All final applicants tentatively selected for the position will be required to submit a urine test for illegal drug use prior to appointments. A positive test will result in the applicant not being offered employment. This position is subject to federal testing regulations pursuant to 49 CFR Part 40 (Federal Drug and Alcohol Regulations) and 49 CFR Part 382 (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) which prohibits the use of marijuana, including medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is not accepted as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for final applicants in this position.
