Sentinel Federal Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and member-focused Commercial Credit Assistant to support the smooth and efficient operation of our commercial loan portfolio. In this role, you'll play an important part in moving loans from application through servicing by coordinating documentation, supporting loan closings and funding, maintaining accurate records, communicating with members and external partners, and helping ensure lending activities remain compliant with Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with members, lenders, brokers, builders, appraisers, realtors, title companies, and internal teams while gaining valuable experience across many aspects of commercial and construction lending. Pay Range
$23.00-$36.00/hour

What You'll Do
- Provide clerical and servicing support throughout all phases of commercial and construction loans, including verifying account information, preparing loan documents, and coordinating title work, appraisals, and environmental reports.
- Follow up with members and external partners to obtain outstanding documentation and ensure loans are ready for closing.
- Support loan closings and funding, including post-closing file assembly, draw requests, inspections, and required reviews.
- Communicate professionally with members, brokers, builders, appraisers, realtors, title companies, and internal teams to provide updates, maintain strong relationships, and resolve issues.
- Assist with underwriting conditions, submit loans for final approval, and ensure lending requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate and complete loan files and keep the loan management system up to date.
- Review and update member accounts, reconcile balances, process approvals or denials, and assist with account adjustments and other loan servicing activities.
- Generate and distribute reports that support loan tracking, follow-up activities, account monitoring, and management needs.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with members to keep loan files current for periodic reviews, insurance requirements, loan modifications, and other ongoing needs.
- Help ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Safeguard confidential member financial information and sensitive documents while following Credit Union policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
- Serve as recording secretary for Loan Committee and provide primary backup support to the Business Services Officer.
- Participate in projects, meetings, training, and other activities that support the Lending Department and overall Credit Union.
- Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring new and developing staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the organization.
Who You Are
- At least 18 years old with a high school education or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in a related field.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
- Prior experience with credit union operations, loan processing, and compliance activities preferred.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with members, coworkers, and external business partners.
- Ability to understand and follow complex written and verbal instructions, procedures, and lending requirements.
- Comfortable working with confidential records, financial information, reports, and documentation.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate information, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, assess competing needs, and organize work to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of lending standards, applicable laws and regulations, Credit Union policies, and lending practices—or the ability to quickly develop that knowledge.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make sound decisions while operating within established guidelines.
- Professional, personable, and service-oriented approach to working with members and business partners.
