The Charge RN is responsible for the oversight and coordination of patient care in the infusion center. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, skilled in oncology nursing, and able to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members across all communications mediums.Essential Role & Responsibilities:Coordinates and directs the daily operations of the infusion teamSupervises staff and facilitates communication with physicians and internal administrators to provide optimal patient care.Is recognized as a change agent and routinely leads efforts to strengthen organizational systems that support the mission, vision, and values.Provides and coordinates the resources needed within the unit to provide optimal patient outcomes.Leads and coordinates team behavior between staff members and actively fosters the development of leadership skills in others.Takes a leadership role in building and maintaining an environment which fosters open and professional communication.Actively participates in preparation of regulatory agency reviews.Supports administrative decisions and facilitates daily operational issues with the staff.Aware of and supports units and colleagues needs through supportive and non-judgmental behaviors.Identifies, recognizes and responds to the needs of unit staff to ensure that staff has the resources and tools available to meet patient and family needs.Takes appropriate action to address patient concerns (i.e., appropriate follow-up with others).Administers performance reviews of direct reportsContribute to our safe, healthy, harmonious, positive, productive and professional work environment and culture.Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and biotherapy medications by multiple routes, insertion of peripheral IV's, management of central access devices, patient assessment, symptom management and patient and caregiver education.Desired Education, Credentials and Qualifications:Graduate of Accredited Nursing Program, BSN preferred.Current California RN licenseCurrent certification in BLS and/or ALSONS Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Provider Card preferred (required within 1 year of employment)OCN preferredPrevious Oncology Nursing experience preferred.Desired Experience and Competencies:Knowledge of chemotherapeutic/biologic agents.Assessment skills with a strong understanding of common side effects and supportive care measures.IV insertion skills and experience with management/troubleshooting a variety of central access devices.Leadership and supervisory experience in performance managementTime management and critical thinking skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a team.Basic computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records.Excellent communication skillsDemonstrates insight, judgment, and clinically sound risk-taking.
