SKC’s team of 8 investment professionals partner with best-in-class third-party property management companies to execute opportunistic and value-add business plans to drive superior investment returns. Since inception, the company has raised and deployed seven closed-end private equity funds and six single-purpose entities with over $665 million of capital commitments. SKC is actively pursuing new acquisitions to grow its existing portfolio of 22 properties.

Position Summary

SKC is seeking a detail-oriented Asset Manager to support the oversight and performance of our growing multifamily and student housing portfolio. This is a highly visible role responsible for maximizing asset value through operational performance, capital investment, revenue optimization, and long-term portfolio planning. This position serves as a key link between SKC and our third-party property management partners, ensuring business plans are effectively executed, property performance is closely tracked, and issues are proactively identified and resolved. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with excellent interpersonal skills comfortably working cross-functionally in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability.

• Lead day-to-day relationships with third-party property management partners, serving as the primary point of contact for portfolio-level communication and issue resolution.

• Oversee and manage the execution of property-level business plans, ensuring management teams remain aligned with underwriting assumptions and investment objectives.

• Track leasing and applications, occupancy, pricing, and other key performance indicators across the portfolio.

• Lead biweekly property calls with property management teams, driving accountability against action items and escalating risks to senior leadership as needed.

• Assist in setting market and renewal rental rates incorporating market data, competitor performance, and portfolio pricing strategy.

• Manage and maintain the quarterly actual to budget worksheets and comparison to underwriting.

• Travel often to properties to conduct site visits, assess physical condition and market positioning, and strengthen relationships with property staff.

• Support ad hoc asset management analysis and reporting as needed, including market research and investor reporting inputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in real estate, finance, business, or related field.

• 3-5 years minimum experience in real estate asset management or property management, with a focus on residential housing.

• Highly detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills, and the ability take ownership of multiple initiatives and drive them to completion with urgency under tight deadlines.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with property management partners and vendors.

• Self-starter with sound judgment, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a lean team.

• Strong proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial and operational data.

• Experience working with ResMan, RealPage, AppFolio or Entrata is a plus but not required.

• Willingness and ability to travel often to properties in Florida and Texas.

Location

Based in New York City, but open to other locations working remotely based on experience.

Total Base Compensation Range : $100k – $200k
