Housekeeping Assistant Manager

Housekeeping ManagerEnsure all guests at Rancho Valencia have a pristine room. Work with all departments to ensure guest satisfaction and exceed their expectations. Promote excellent personal rapport with guest and housekeeping employees. Support the Director of Housekeeping to ensure monthly supplies and inventories are up to date. Assist in Inspecting rooms and Resort areas; work closely with Engineering & Front Desk. Handle the daily operations in housekeeping. Minimum of three to five years of progressive housekeeping experience in a full service or resort hospitality management background required.Essential FunctionsPrepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift. Identify situations which compromise the department's standards and delegate these tasks.Inspect all public areas, to include, pool area, offices, tennis, lobby and service areas after being clean by Housemen/attendant. Ensure that cleanliness and condition of each area meets the standards of Rancho Valencia.Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to dispatch.Monitor and handle guest complaints by following procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.Provide feedback on staff performance to the Director. Report disciplinary problems to Director and participate in the counseling of employees.Check and update resort rooms status after approving cleanliness and condition in accordance with the departmental standards.Coach and counsel employees to reflect Rancho Valencia Resort Service Standards and ProceduresMaintain proper inventory levels of all required supplies and order them through Buy Efficient as neededContinuously work with room attendants to monitor cleaning/standards/techniques and re-train as needed.Orient all new employees utilizing company handbooks and support materials.Leads training and recognition for employees at all levels and maintains a team-oriented environment.Supervise and assist other departments in the division when neededUnder the Director's leadership, is responsible for the department training program, weekly and monthly training topics.Actively participates in Resort safety program, abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements and leads safety training within the department.Participate in and support hotel efforts towards community service, sustainability and environmental initiatives.Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.QualificationsRequiredPrevious management experience in a luxury resort.Strong leadership and time management skills.Flexible schedule, including the ability to work holidays and weekends.Impeccable attention to detail.DesirablePrevious experience in a housekeeping line staff rolePrevious housekeeping management or supervisory experience in a luxury resort.Previous Rooms Division or other Hospitality management experienceUnderstand the Financial statements and Budget.SkillsRequiredAbility to motivate assigned staff and maintain a cohesive team.Knows how to prioritize and organize work assignments; delegate work.Focus on details weather it is cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms and resort.Strong Office and Computer skills including basic Excel, Advanced Word and Outlook abilityDesirableAbility to speak any other languages.Basic Spanish language communication skills.Physical DemandsFrequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.Lifting/carrying up to 30lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms' reach.Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
