Senior Structural Designer Location: Lenexa, KS, US Chattanooga, TN, US Richmond, VA, US Tempe, AZ, US Phoenix, AZ, US Raleigh, NC, US Detroit, MI, US Houston, TX, US Position Overview: Kiewit Power Engineering Group is seeking several Mid to Senior level Structural Designers to join our growing team! In this role, the Structural Designers should have a good understanding of design modeling, design drawing/document creation, and data exchange using Building Information Modeling (BIM). Candidates are expected to have experience in foundation and steel design. The ideal candidates will grow with the team by helping to establish, maintain, and improve standards and tools while contributing to project success. Depending on experience, the position may be at a Mid-Level or Senior level. Candidates are expected to be a technical resource for less experienced designers and engineers. Candidates must be comfortable working closely with Structural Design Engineers and other discipline team members to drive coordination and collaboration. Responsibilities: Coordinate with other design group team members to review and exchange project information necessary for design and development. Checks design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking. Reports task progress to Lead Designer. Gathers required information and collaborate with engineers and multiple disciplines to develop BIM models for foundations and steel structures. Leverages Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create plans, drawings, and details. Assist in the development of department standards and tools. Mentors other team members in design and modeling techniques. Resolve design issues effectively with input from responsible engineer. Qualifications: Completion of a vocational training program in Computer Aided Design and 15+ years of structural design experience using Tekla. Demonstrates ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents. Displays leadership and confidence to monitor peers, especially those with less experience in drafting and design. Must have a basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems. Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and in written form. Knowledge of basic spreadsheet, database, word processing programs. Must be able to represent Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors and any other contacts outside the Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. organization.
