Staff Accountant
Location: Bolingbrook, IL 60440 (Hybrid: On-site Monday–Wednesday, Remote Thursday–Friday) Pay: $25.00-27.05/hour Hours: Monday–Friday; 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Overview
We are seeking a staff accountant to support month-end close activities, expense management, supplier billing, and financial reporting. This is a 6–9 month contract opportunity with potential for full-time conversion based on performance and business needs.
Job Description
- Perform monthly reconciliations for 40+ general ledger accounts
- Review and analyze general ledger activity and expense fluctuations
- Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and management reports
- Reconcile supplier accounts and bank deposits
- Review gross profit postings and executive expense reports
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Process supplier bill-backs, incentive payments, and sales commission programs
- Track incentive program submissions and verify payment accuracy
- Submit approved incentive payouts to payroll
- Prepare monthly departmental P&L and management reports
- Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable activities
- Support quarterly corporate reporting requirements
- Generate ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum 1 year of accounting experience or relevant internship experience
- Strong excel skills, including linking data across systems and advanced reporting functions
- Experience with general ledger reconciliations
- Understanding of month-end close processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Skills
- SAP experience
- Concur experience
- Consumer goods, beverage alcohol, distribution, or related industry experience
- Experience supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
