Project Manager Intern Wichita, KS, US 7 days ago Requisition ID: 1036 Job Purpose/Summary The Project Manager is a Project Management Office resource supporting coordinated delivery across all three Knowmadics lines of business. The position will support Project Managers on complex programs while independently managing assigned projects, internal initiatives, and company-wide projects as appropriate. The Project Manager is expected to be highly organized, adaptable, and willing to perform both the detailed coordination and higher-level project management necessary to keep work moving. Responsibilities may range from maintaining schedules, budgets, scope records, contract deliverables, sponsor communications, and action tracking to coordinating cross-functional teams and driving projects and initiatives from planning through completion. The position also supports portfolio reporting and PMO-managed systems, including Jira and Jira Service Management. The role requires a willingness to take ownership, solve problems, follow up on commitments, surface risks and dependencies, and perform the work necessary to achieve the intended outcome. Duties and Responsibilities Project Planning and Delivery Support Support integrated project planning across contract milestones, product releases, internal commitments, and strategic initiatives spanning all three lines of business. Support Project Managers on complex programs while independently managing assigned projects and initiatives. Maintain project schedules, milestone trackers, work plans, action logs, deliverable records, and other project documentation. Track scope, schedule, cost, resources, risks, issues, and dependencies; identify variances and elevate concerns appropriately. Coordinate meetings, agendas, decisions, and follow-up actions to maintain accountability and drive work to completion. Take ownership of assigned projects and workstreams, ensuring responsibilities are clear and commitments are followed through to completion. Coordinate projects and initiatives across multiple departments, including planning, communications, status tracking, and execution. Perform hands‑on administrative and coordination work as needed, including gathering information, preparing materials, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project records. Budget Contract, and Sponsor Support Assist with budget tracking, forecasts, invoice support, and other financial coordination with stakeholders and Finance. Support contract administration by tracking requirements, deliverables, deadlines, subcontractor inputs, compliance requests, and related documentation. Prepare routine project and program status communications and coordinate sponsor, customer, subcontractor, and internal requests. Support project logistics, including meetings, travel, facilities, equipment, training, and other operational needs. Assist with materials and information gathering for customer, sponsor, subcontractor, leadership, and internal reviews. Reporting, Governance, and Cross-Line Coordination Maintain dashboards and reports providing visibility into progress, milestones, risks, issues, decisions, and dependencies across the three lines of business. Prepare materials for contract reviews, product syncs, quarterly planning, leadership reviews, and other governance activities. Coordinate across the three lines of business to identify shared dependencies, resource constraints, schedule conflicts, and opportunities for consistent execution. Support new contract pursuits and proposals by gathering schedule, budget, staffing, and delivery inputs as assigned. Apply PMO templates, governance practices, documentation standards, and change‑control processes consistently. Identify and implement practical improvements to project management processes, tools, and reporting. Take on new project assignments and evolving business needs as priorities change. PMIS and Jira Support Maintain accurate project and portfolio data in Jira, Jira Service Management, and other PMO systems and trackers. Support configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of PMO workflows, forms, dashboards, and related Jira processes. Monitor PMO service requests to ensure they are captured, assigned, tracked, and resolved. Support user onboarding, training, access coordination, basic user guidance, and documentation for PMO-managed Jira processes. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. One to three years of experience supporting projects, programs, PMO operations, business operations, or comparable cross‑functional work. Ability to work with limited direction, ask appropriate questions, identify what needs to be done, and follow through to completion. Experience maintaining schedules, action items, project records, reports, dashboards, service requests, or other operational tracking through completion. Working knowledge of Jira or a comparable work‑management platform; ability to learn Jira Service Management configuration and administration. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, and timely follow‑through. Ability to manage multiple assignments, work effectively in a matrixed environment, and escalating risks or delays appropriately. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration and business tools. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or demonstrated interest in pursuing project management certification. Experience in a SaaS, software research and development, government contracting, defense, or other regulated environment. Familiarity with Agile or Scrum delivery practices and hybrid delivery models combining contract work with commercial product development. Experience coordinating with sponsors, customers, subcontractors, or cross‑functional stakeholder coordination. Interest or experience in one or more Knowmadics product domains, including Space, C‑UAS, Tactical Electronic Warfare, geospatial intelligence, or distributed sensor management. Working conditions Employees may be called upon to participate in in‑person meetings, training, or company functions at Knowmadics offices or other designated locations. Travel in support of business operations may also be required. Estimated travel: 10–20% (sponsor sites, subcontractor facilities, and Knowmadics locations). Some evening/weekend work may be required based on program milestones, sponsor deadlines, or escalation events. Physical requirements May include sitting or standing for extended periods, working with computers and conferencing equipment, and occasional travel including air travel and driving to sponsor/subcontractor sites.
