Position Information Title Title Assistant Professor of Chemistry(Tenure Track) Campus Campus Stockton Department Department Department of Chemistry Posting Number Posting Number F01108 Full or Part Time Full or Part Time Full Time Open Date Open Date 09/29/2026 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Days Per Week Position Description Primary Purpose and Essential Functions The Department of Chemistry at the University of the Pacific prepares undergraduate and graduate students in the chemical sciences through teaching, year-round undergraduate research, and mentoring of M.S. and Ph.D. students in the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences Program. This tenure-track Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry supports that mission by teaching core and specialized courses and by building a research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students and is competitive for external funding. Teach Organic Chemistry. Teach General Chemistry. Teach courses in the candidate’s area of specialization at the undergraduate and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) levels. Provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students. Develop a strong, independent research program suitable for undergraduate and Ph.D. student involvement. Pursue external funding to support the research program. Mentor undergraduate researchers on a year-round basis. Mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students in the Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences Program. Participate in departmental and university service as expected of tenure-track faculty. Seek collaborations across the university’s professional schools, including pharmacy, dentistry, and the planned School of Medicine. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field. Preferred Qualifications Postdoctoral training; Research interests in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, or chemical biology. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work. This is an in-person role, and the successful candidate must be willing to relocate within California, preferably within 25 miles of the Stockton Pacific campus. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel: Work is performed during standard hours; Additional hours may be required to meet business needs or deadlines. Hiring Range Hiring Range $78,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
