Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance activities, including scheduled inspections, calibrations, safety checks, lubrication, and component replacements to minimize equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery such as motors, conveyor systems, folder gluers, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing equipment.
• Install, relocate, and modify machinery and equipment as needed to support production requirements and process improvements.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems that use fluid pressure to operate machinery, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and related components.
• Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems that use air pressure to operate machinery, including air lines, valves, actuators, and regulators.
• Inspect, diagnose, and replace mechanical components such as bearings, belts, chains, gears, and drive systems to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot conveyor systems, including belts, rollers, motors, and associated controls, to ensure proper material flow.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs), ensuring proper operation of three-phase motors and related electrical systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with sensors and switches, including proximity sensors, limit switches, and photo eyes, to maintain accurate machine control and safety.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation to support accurate troubleshooting and repairs.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs on three-phase power systems and industrial control circuits in a safe and efficient manner.
• Use welding and basic fabrication skills as needed to repair or modify equipment and support maintenance projects.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support maintenance planning and equipment history.
• Collaborate with production and other team members to identify equipment issues, prioritize work, and support continuous improvement.
• Work independently on a small team, managing time and tasks effectively to complete assigned work within shift schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a corrugating or corrugated manufacturing environment is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with folder gluers, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing equipment is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work independently within a small team structure.
• Comfort working from technical manuals, schematics, and equipment documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment safety and reliability.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with production and maintenance colleagues.
• Willingness to work second shift hours and occasional Saturdays as needed.

Work Environment

• This role is based in a clean industrial facility on the second shift, working approximately 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed.
• The position includes a shift differential for second shift work.
• You will be part of a small maintenance team and often work independently, handling a variety of tasks across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
• The environment includes industrial production equipment such as motors, conveyor systems, folder gluers, presses, banders, bundlers, and printing machinery, supported by tools and equipment for electrical troubleshooting, welding, and general mechanical repair.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
