Description
The Clinic Director provides leadership, administration, and oversight for the Speech-Language Pathology clinical education program and the department's on-campus speech and hearing clinic. The position ensures high-quality clinical training for graduate students while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards established by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and certification requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

The Clinic Director coordinates clinical education experiences, supervises clinic operations, manages clinical faculty and supervisors, and ensures that student clinicians obtain the competencies required for ASHA certification and state licensure. The position also supports community engagement through the provision of evidence-based clinical services.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Clinical Education Administration

• Coordinate and oversee all internal clinical education experiences with the clinical and community placements for graduate students in the Speech-Language Pathology program.
• Coordinate and collaborate with the Director of Clinical Experiences / Director of Clinical Education.
• Ensure clinical training meets all standards set by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and certification requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for clinical education and supervision.
• Track and verify student clinical hours, competencies, and documentation required for certification and licensure.
• Coordinate student clinical placements including on-campus and off-campus practicum experiences.

Clinic Operations

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the university speech and hearing clinic. Oversee scheduling of clients, clinical supervisors, and student clinicians.
• Ensure all clinical faculty/staff/students are trained on compliance with HIPAA, university policies, and professional ethical standards.
• Supervise clinic support staff and graduate assistants.
• Coordinate with Program Director on clinic budget, billing procedures, and resource allocation.

Clinical Supervision and Faculty Support

• Train, and evaluate clinical supervisors and adjunct clinical faculty. Provide mentorship and professional development for clinical educators.
• Facilitate training related to clinical supervision, evidence-based practice (related to supervision), and student evaluation.
• Collaborate with academic faculty to integrate clinical and academic curricula.

Accreditation and Compliance

• Maintain documentation required for accreditation and program assessment.
• Collaborate with the Department Chair and faculty in preparing reports for the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
• Monitor clinical education outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with university, state licensure, and professional regulations.

Student Support and Evaluation

• Monitor student clinical performance and competency development.
• Coordinate with supervisors and clinical leadership to address clinical performance concerns and implement remediation plans when necessary.
• Provide orientation and guidance for student clinicians regarding clinic policies and expectations.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders (doctorate preferred).

Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology.

Minimum of 2 years of clinical supervision experience with graduate student clinicians.

Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards of the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

Experience in clinical program administration or clinic management.
Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or clinical doctorate) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field.

Experience managing a university speech and hearing clinic. Experience coordinating off-campus clinical placements.

Experience with clinical education technology platforms and electronic health records.

Evidence of leadership in clinical education, service delivery innovation, or program development.
Licenses and Certification

Eligibility for state licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.

Valid Georgia Driver's License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR.

Supplemental Information
ENVIRONMENTAL, PHYSICAL, and VISUAL ACUITY FACTORS

Work will be performed inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents will perform primarily sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Incumbents will regularly get up and down from a seated position, reach, bend, and stand throughout the day.

Incumbents must have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
